Move faster or I'll push you down the next flight of stairs!"
I'm pretty sure it's a bluff... I may not be able to see, but the house seems familiar to me... not that that's a good sign.
"This is what happens when you betray us, Brian," pulling my head back sharply... probably only the beginning of the beating I'm going to get. "You shoulda known better than to call that cop down on us."
"Siddown... Now, we're gonna show you some professional courtesy. Whaddaya have to say to that, huh? Oh... he's gone all quiet." Sal's idea of a joke, I guess. "Come on, speak up!" The best I can do is mumble and squirm around a bit, but eventually the joke gets old and he backs off.
Sal's a fan of dirty humor, and dirtier business practices. It's made him pretty rich. I've helped. But when I got wind the company might be needing a fall guy soon, for one of it's mistakes, I made sure I wouldn't be it the only way I could. Someone in the PD must be on his payroll though, cause he found out pretty quick when I exposed him, and now I'm dead. Maybe whatever honest cops got ahold of my info will still hunt him down, but without me as a witness, the case is screwed. Sal knows it too. For a minute, he just laughs, while I try to follow his voice around the room.
He comes back and I feel him move to my feet. Tying them off, he almost whispers, "You're a shiny new toy, Brian. Shiny and quiet, yes? That's a good boy. But let's not take any chances." He shuffles off behind me, and I hear the duct tape tearing in his hands.
"There we go. Now what was I saying? Ah, yes. Professional courtesies. I'm not gonna beat you like some tramp. After all, what you did was just business. Quick, clean, just wanted out."
"Lessee... I got a little more rope here, and we do gotta be professional now." I can almost hear him smile, but there're no patsies to laugh at his jokes, so he just keeps talking.
"Well. You're out. I promise you that. Course, got nowwhere to go, but you didn't think much about that, and it's too late now. In fact, I got a little severence package here for you. Let me show you."
The blindfold comes off, and I'm right about the house. It's the one I called the cop from. Sal probably knew that.
"Hope you like it." He smiles, and nods in the direction of an alarm clock next to me.
"Nice clock too, doesn't even tick, like a rolex, eh? Course, it makes plenty of noise when the alarm goes off..." He turns and starts up the stairs.
"I set it for your appointment with the big guy upstairs. Don't be late!" Funny guy, Sal.
