It was late one night and Detective Jon Storm knew he only had an hour of a window to get what he needed to crack the case that could make his career and to put a rather deserving individual behind bar for a long stretch.

The individual in question was the local mayor, who had nearly everyone under the payroll so he could pull off any dodgy scheme he wanted. Everyone except Jon Storm of course and tonight would be the night that Jon would prove that the mayor's plan to build over an old settlement had a more sinister purpose to it than even the media were willing to disclose.

Jon managed to sneak into the office and slip past both CCTV and security men with ease. He was good at getting into places he shouldn't. It was the getting out part that sometimes didn't work in his favour but tonight he believed that luck would be on his side.

Jon went to the filing cabinet after making sure that he didn't have company and skimmed through the first few files that were nothing of consequence before stumbling onto the very thing he was looking for. "Jackpot," Jon said to himself as he began to read the file thoroughly to make it was what he needed. "You won't be getting reelected by the time I'm done with you, Mr Mayor."

Before Jon could take the file with him, he was struck from behind by an unknown assailant. It would be another ten minutes before Jon would wake up to find himself tightly roped to a chair. He turned his head to see a masked man on the phone.

"What the hell?" Jon grunted, struggling in his bonds. He was tied up good and tight.

"Nah, boss, he ain't going nowhere," the thug said before adding, "I'll keep him until you get back, don't rush or anything."

As the thug hung up from the phone, Jon gave him a Stern glare as he continued to struggle. "You do realize holding a Detective prisoner will only add to your boss's sentence. His luck has finally run out."

"Sorry Jonny boy but you're the one whose luck has run out," the thug replied, clamping his hand over Storm's mouth. "I've got something else I need to take care off, so I'm gonna need you to keep your pretty boy mouth shut, Detective."

Before Jon could say anything else, a large strip of duct tape was used to gag him while a thick blue cloth was tied over his eyes as a blindfold.

"If you behave yourself, you might get something to eat before the boss has you on ice," the thug smirked as he ruffled Jon's hair. "Such a shame, I could think of better things to with you, Storm. Oh well."

In that moment, Jon could hear a door closing and being locked from the outside. He was alone, bound, gagged and blindfolded to a chair. He moaned as loud as he could for help but no-one came and he realized he didn't have long before his masked assailant or the Mayor came back and he was put on ice. He had to get free and he had to do it fast and with the odds seemingly against him, he went into overdrive to rescue himself.

By the time both the Mayor and his hired goon had returned, Jon's fate was sealed. He breathed a sigh of relief through his gag that he didn't remove that he had narrowly escaped a bad outcome. Now he had to get justice before he was stopped for good.
