Reality Television by JM The more I think about it the more I get angry. It was my one and only day off in weeks. A I wanted to do was lay around the house and relax. I had been pulling doubles for the past three weeks. Every muscle in my body ached. I woke up to a beautiful morning and sipped my coffee. I turned on the television and began my plan for the day. Daytime television really sucked but I was content just chilling out. As I began to catch up on morning talk trash on the television, a prompt interceded. Some idiot had just robbed a bank and was leading the cops on a high speed chase through downtown. It was on every channel. I sat there watching and wondering how this guy thought he would get away with it. The cops tried every trick in their book to stop him but he just seemed to be one step ahead of them the whole time. It was intense to watch this guy weave in and out of traffic and then exit the freeway for a residential neighborhood. People scrambled to their porches to watch the chase fly by on their street. I sat hoping no one would get hurt but at the same time was dumbfounded as to why they would stand there and watch hen such a dangerous thing was going on. As the culprit made his way through the neighborhood I noticed he was getting closer and closer to mine. The cops could not seem to contain him. I watched as he finally ran out of gas and darted from the car. It was now a foot chase. Suddenly he was out of camera view and the cops seemed to have lost him. He must have ducked into somebody’s garage or something. I watched and waited for something to happen when I heard a loud crash in the other room. I didn’t even have a chance to investigate when a tall man entered my living room brandishing an object. It was the bank robber, holy shit. “Look friend I don’t want to hurt you but as you can see from your TV I’m in a bit of a mess. All I need is a little time to figure my next move so you’ll be having a guest for a while”, he said. “Please mister you can take what you want do what you need to do, but please don’t hurt me”, I pleaded. I could not believe this. I sat here watching this joker cause havoc in the streets and now I’m his prisoner. Now I don’t want to hurt you but I need to keep you on ice for a while until I get my shit together”, he said. On ice I thought? “I’m going to have to tie you up and gag you, it will be uncomfortable but I promise that will the worst of it I need you to get me some rope or tape”, he said. He followed me to the kitchen where I gave him some rope from a drawer. I was terrified. He took back into the living room and began to tie me up. He wrapped the itchy rope around my chest and shoulders. He tied wrists tightly and knotted the rope hard. His he pulled a bandana from his pocket and XXXX it between my teeth. He tied the bandana behind my head and pushed down onto the couch. “MMMMMMPPPPPHHHH”. I whimpered out of fear. I watched as paced back and forth. He looked over at me and decided I wasn’t secure enough for him. He grabbed more rope and began securing my feet. He tightly bound my legs and ankles. I fought quietly against the ropes hoping he wouldn’t notice. He pushed onto my back on the couch and left the room. I lay there scared about what was next. I heard the back door open and shut and then silence. He was gone. I struggled to get to my feet. I thought maybe I could hop to the front door but fell onto my knees .I rolled and grunted as I tried to free myself. I was able to loosen the rope and began to work my way free, when I looked up and saw him standing there again. Oh shit he was still here. “Look friend I told you to keep still, now I have to make you a little more uncomfortable”, he said. He re secured the ropes and wrapped more around my socked feet. He pulled me into a tight hogtie knotting the ropes tighter than before. “MMMPPPHHH”, I squealed in pain. I lay still on the floor as he left the room again. He walked back in carrying my car keys. “I hope you don’t mind friend but I need to borrow your car for a while”, he said. “MMMPPPHHH”, I screamed. Then I realized he would be leaving. “GOMMPPPHH HEAMMPPPPHH”, I said through my gag. He picked up his bag and left. I struggled to break free but my carelessness earlier had made the knots more impossible to loosen. I rolled and fought against my ties and screamed as loudly as I could through the bandana. Suddenly after becoming completely exhausted my eyes focused on the television. They had caught sight of him again, but his time in my car. I watched as the police finally trapped him while at the same time blowing out my new tires. Finally after another hour of struggling I was able to free myself. I went down to the police station to make a report. Thank God I have insurance. The End Date of Production: 11/24/2008
